Bangkok University was officially founded in Bangkok on December 25, 1962 by Mr.Surat and Mrs.Pongtip Osathanugrah. Mr.Surat Osathanugrah is one of Thailand' s most prominent businessmen, a former Deputy Minister of Interior, a former Minister of Commerce and a former member of the House of Representatives, representing Khon Kaen province.

Rangsit is a municipality in the 300-year-old province of Pathum Thani, which together with Bangkok, Samut Prakan, Samut Sakhorn and Nonthaburi make up the greater Bangkok Metropolitan Region. Rangsit is a busy Bangkok suburb on the Bangkok-Ayutthaya transport artery, crowded with shopping malls, universities, posh housing enclaves and the city's airport. If you look at the aerial photos of Rangsit, you see an astonishing amount of empty land for an area so close to Bangkok, but most of it is being kept idle by speculators for future real estate deals and is way too expensive for the city's poor to access. The 2002 survey by CODI and NHA found 27,175 households living in 77 poor communities in the seven districts of Pathum Thani Province, many of them along canals.
the term ‘Rangsit area’ refers to a largely agricultural area located in Pathum Thani province 3 (the central Thai region). In an economic sense, the geographical area of Rangsit has recently been broadened to cover the outlying districts of several neighboring provinces.
These include the Wangnoi district of Ayudhaya province, the Nongkae district of Saraburi, the Ongkarak district of Nakornnayok, and the Bangnampreaw district of Chachengsao. The original four districts of Pathum Thani Dhanyaburi, Klongluang, Lumlukka and Nongsua
now constitute geographically the inner part of the Rangsit area (Institute of Thai Studies 1995). For this reason, the population density is considerably higher than in the outlying areas.
